It’s finally December and Christmas is just around the corner. This month is filled with delicious traditional dishes and snacks. Until the big day Homies Finest will inspire you to make some great Christmassy preserves. There are many wonderful sweet, sour and salty preserves which help balance the food and enhance the flavors. Christmas will taste even better! Serve these pickled cranberries warm or cool to the Christmas dinner – it is especially lovely with turkey, duck or roasted pork.
300 g cranberry
Juice of 1 orange
1 orange cut into cubes
160 grams of cane sugar
2 bay leaves
Grated zest from a half to a whole lemon (depending on the lemon size)
Put all the ingredients in a preserving pan and let it steep for at least half an hour. Then let it simmer for 10 minutes on moderate heat and afterwards get it to the boil for about 5 minutes. Remember to season with salt and pepper. Pour the pickled cranberries into sterilized jars or eat them straight away with some juicy Christmas food.
