Perfectly preserved purple plums

Preserved Plums in Whiskey

Late-summer is on its last legs – and it’s time to pick the amazing plums, overflowing us with their beautiful purple colors on the trees. Hurry up before they all fall to the ground. We love pickled plums with a hint of whiskey. They are a real treat and fantastic with blue cheese, pancakes or vanilla ice cream, or both at once. So off you go – put on a thin sweater and head out and pick those purple jewels.

Pickled Plums

500 grams of prunes
250 grams of sugar
2 tbsp. of whiskey
Grains from ½ a vanilla pod

Remove the stones from the plums and pour all the ingredients into a saucepan. Boil it all together until it has a thick but still a bit runny consistency – it takes about 10-20 minutes. Pour this yummy treat into sterilized jars and store them in a dark and cool place.

Have a plummy yummy day!
